The Technical Board for Dressage at Spain’s Royal Equestrian Federation, following the 2014 official planning for this discipline, has published the list of the horses and riders selected to represent Spain. This year, Purebred Spanish Horses will be participating at the World Dressage Championships for Young Horses in Verden (Germany) from the 6th to the 10th of August.
For the first time in history, two Purebred Spanish Horses will be representing Spain and the breed in the 5-year-old category. Genciano X, owned by Agustí Elías and bred by Los Retamales will be in the arena at the hand of rider Emmelie Scholtens. Jamaicano de Ymas III, owned by Yeguada de Ymas will be ridden by Juan Matute Guimón.
Both horses have earned very high scores: Jamaicano de Ymas (highest average: 86.2%) and Genciano X (highest average: 83.8%). This fact has led the Technical Selection Committee for Dressage—which includes Luis Lucio, international judge Francisco Guerra, trainers Nicky Barrett and Rafael Soto, veterinarian Gaspar Castellijns, Lauro Aguiló representing the Riders’ Club and the ANCCE Technical Staff—to favor these PREs to represent the breed in the 5-year old category as well as Spain at this international venue, an event prior to the World Equestrian Games in Normandy.
We will keep a supportive eye on the success of these horses/riders, while wishing them the very best.
